The coolant bypass valve won't throw a check engine light; it'll just piss all your coolant onto the ground. You may want to replace preventatively around 90-100k. No guarantees it won't fail before then though.
P1110 is most definitely related to a turbo bypass valve issue. But check all the vacuum lines associated with the valve. There's one that runs back toward the firewall where they're a solenoid valve and often they can fall off the nipple when they're old and brittle.
