From my recollection, studs are welded, painted and quite beefy. I didn't have a problem in Round One (cleaning attempt) several months ago since my dad taught me to spray corrosion inhibitor on all metal fasteners on car's I want to keep so those studs were oiled yrs ago. If I were in your position, I would spray some legendary "Fabulous Blaster" PB penetrant or similar on all four nuts and let sit overnight with electrical connectors attached. Then I would try to "crack" the rust by trying to loosen the nuts but not over torquing them. If that didn't work, I would try to tighten the nuts ever so slightly to crack the rust. If that didn't work, I would try loosening one more time before I sprayed more PB on and let them soak another night. Ordinarily, I would try a few good wacks BUT I wouldn't want to try that and RISK setting off the attached sensors in my ignorance. Referring to my Haynes manual (which covers side sensors but not front ones), precautions include switching ignition off and removing key before servicing SRS system, no wire splicing, no hammering or harsh vibration in the engine bay/front of car,no use of ohmmeters on SRS components which might supply current, do not leave SRS components disconnected from electrical wiring longer than necessary and they recommend disconnecting battery. That said, I am not encouraging any reader to work on their SRS system - I am only documenting my experiences as a shade tree enthusiast.
