There's a check valve on top of the fuel pump (under the back seat). Kind of a pain to replace (at least if it's anything like the one on the 9000, which I think it is). Have you tried turning the key to the On position for a couple of seconds before turning it to crank, to give the fuel time to get from the pump? If this helps, then the check valve would definitely be suspect. Could also be a weak pump.
