Ref: 2003 9-5 AERO Sedan
Time to replace the trunk struts for the first time on this SAAB. Removed the stops from the hinges and took off a strut. The upper ball mount on the hinge is rough from the old strut. Put on the bottom mount no problem. The top one would not snap in even tough I pre lubed it with silicone grease. The strut is by Meistersatz. It seemed to damage the ball mount even more so it was time to stop.
Do the OEM struts snap into place better than Meistersatz? Do I need to fine sand the ball mounts to smooth them?
I have replaced many trunk and hood struts on SAABs and other makes and once they are aligned they always snapped into place with little force.
Thanks for your comments.
