Too bad you can't edjumacate the shops in your area. Have you tried Nordic Motors too. Carl is usually a straight shooter that knows his Saab's.
As you wrote, if it would be possible to both divorce and marry the radio to your car using a surrogate Saab for both VIN I don't know. I have never tried that but I guess it might work.
Another thing though to keep in mind is that I have starting to see more and more of these radios loosing their marriage license as soon as the battery is disconnected. But it is a simple procedure to just marry them back to the car with the Tech 2. The bad part is when the owner has to come back because you forgot to check the radio function before releasing the car.
I wonder if the radio have a BIOS battery of sort inside that keeps it alive and that they start to go bad by now.
