Batteries over three years old in our 9-5's with high underhood temperatures are automatically suspect when there is a problem like yours. Battery testing can vary, and not all battery weakness shows up in testing. I agree with Dho that you might not be getting enough charge from shorter trips, lights on, etc. - but a brand new battery is the cheapest thing to try first, especially since you indicate you are getting "charging as it should" (about 14V across the terminals). Increased internal resistance in the battery as it ages means that less energy goes into recharging at a given voltage . . . so an old battery might test "good" but charge more slowly (inefficiently) than a new one.
