So I tried to measure AC on my other vehicle and got about 30V too. I read that some multimeters may just "multiply by 2" so perhaps this is not an accurate test.
I also measured voltage drop on the +ve side (battery post to alternator post) and got 0.13V so I think thats ok.
I have no idea how to prove the diodes are bad with a multimeter!
