Ball Joint Mystery Posted by Kirkster [Email] (#844) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Kirkster) on Sat, 24 Dec 2016 20:29:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I went to get a front end alignment on my 2000 9-5 wagon and was told they couldn't do it because the passenger side ball joint was loose and one M8 bolt was missing. I went home and confirmed what I was told and decided to replace all 3 mounting bolts and fasten the ball joint properly. I would have never dreamed I was in for such a fight. Removing the old M8 bolts was a treat because the bolt heads were so close to the M12 bolt that clamps the ball joint stud. Installing the new bolts was equally tough because the three bolt holes were almost directly under the M12 bolt and the clamp that the stud passes through. I looked at the driver's side ball joint to compare and there was plenty of space there. I am at a loss to explain why things are so tight on the passenger side. I'm hoping someone can solve this mystery. Thanks in advance.
