Cold start issues Posted by serge [Email] (#1363) [Profile/Gallery] (more from serge) on Sat, 28 Jan 2017 10:49:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a "new" '07 SportCombi that I bought for an extremely low price, but it had a ton of issues: brakes, fuel pump, DIC, axle bearing. What's been happening the past few cool (not cold) mornings has been to crank without starting. Try it a few times, same result, let and sit for a while and then it fires up normally with on OK system check. That was prior to today.
Then I got a CEL with the code P1110. This implies an issue with either a bad vacuum hose to, or an entirely faulty turbo bypass valve. The vacuum tube is well connected at both ends, and quite flexible - not brittle. I will replace the tubing and the bypass valve itself which is on order.
NOW, the new problem exhibits itself thus. Several cranks, tach moves, and engine fails to start. Wait ten minutes, and then crank the starter, the car roars to life, revs to 2K RPM, and then BAM, it stops. Try it again, same thing...wait a half-hour, try it once more, and I get ignition/rev to 2K/dead stop again...nada.
Anyone experienced anything like this? Other details include: the fuel pump hums for a second or two when you turn the key, so I'm assuming it's not the problem. I had my guy replace the CPS while he was at it in case that's germane. Thanks all!
