Question - troubleshooting intermittent ABS/ESP/Brake lights Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Tue, 19 Jun 2018 14:06:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Another day, another repair opportunity!
I recently 'rebuilt' the ABS wiring junctions under the rear seat carpet (junctions J108-J111) in my younger daughter's 2006 wagon (126K miles). We're several weeks into that repair and the car (driven daily) has behaved well with no repeat of "Christmas Tree" dash lights so far. So that issue may actually be fixed.
Now my older daughter with a different 2006 wagon (141K miles) has sent me a text with a picture of her ABS/ESP/Brake lights all on. She says that they reset and did not illuminate when she restarted the car. I don't have a Tech2, but I do have an OpCom, so I will check for any error code when I get access to her car.
In addition to checking for any code/pending code, I plan to check and clean the brake light switch (leftmost of the pair), and I will check the condition of the wheel speed sensors and signal rings. I will only go to rebuilding her ABS wiring junctions if the problem recurs and brake switch and sensors are not the issue.
I'd appreciate input on what other items to check. Of course, I would like it not to be the actual ABS controller.
Thanks !
