Slipping Clutch? 2008 9-5 SportCombi

I've a 2008 9-5 SportCombi that I bought about a year and a half ago. It drives well, but the clutch has some odd behavior. It engages/disengages smoothly, near the top of the pedal stroke, and doesn't squeak, although sometimes coming off the clutch to engage a gear is smoother than I expect, as if I'm releasing the pedal a lot slower than I am. Also, sometimes for the first mile, it's a bit jerky when the clutch grabs, until things warm up. However:
When cruising along, and I give it a moderate amount of gas to accelerate, the rpm increase normally, then around 3,000 rpm, it surges to 3,500 or 4,000 for a second or two, then settles back down. There's no increase in speed, of course.
I would think this is a slipping clutch, but the car only has 92k miles on it. The fluid was replaced about 10,000 miles ago (Amsoil low viscosity fluid). I also did a clutch check where I drive in 4th gear and press the clutch for an instant and release it, and the clutch grabs very nicely, like it should.
Could it be something other than the clutch/flywheel itself, like leaky master cylinder seals?
Thanks in advance.
