You cannot replace just the fuel level sender — it’s integrated with the fuel pump. You may have temporarily success with removing the pump and cleaning the sender armature and resistance grid. (See link.) Long term, though, you’ll need to replace the assembly.
Until then, reset the trip odometer at every fill-up and establish a fueling interval consistent with your drive cycle. Nearly all my miles are long distance highway so I settled on 400 miles to start looking for a station, NTE 450 miles ever.
Running out of fuel is not a mere inconvenience but is frankly dangerous (risk of being rear-ended at high speed, especially at night) and moreover may shorten the life of your catalytic converter if the engine severely stumbles (as evidenced by a flashing CEL).
