Timken front crankshaft seal 2 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Thu, 12 Dec 2019 09:58:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I would like concur with Nate's post linked below. I also used a Timken crankshaft seal 331227H earlier this year to replace a leaking oil seal. The Timken seal started leaking like crazy after two weeks. Before I could replace it, my son-in-law in NYC was T-boned in an accident (no one hurt in his car), and I had to loan them my 9-5 with the new bad seal in it. I tossed 6 quarts oil in the trunk and drove up to NYC from Washington, DC. It took them 7 months to get a new car and by that time they had used up 5 quarts of oil.
When the car got back home, I pulled the crank pulley and the Timken seal came out stuck to the pulley. I remember looking at the seal when I installed it and thought it was an odd design as there is no rubber on the outside edge, only steel. I replaced the Timken seal with a Corteco seal and everything seems fine. So, don't use a Timken 331227H seal as Nate's original post pointed out.
