I'd agree on the rusty dog legs. Correct repair by a diligent body shop will be $1,000 - $2,500 depending on the degree of damage. Doing it correctly means cutting out the corrosion and welding (or gluing) in new / rust free metal. I have an '04 that had bubbles there 11 years ago an now has turned to rot, even with diligent cleaning after immersion in brine used here on the "North Coast" of Lake Erie and epicenter of the rust belt. I've repaired it with POR-15 for now. Other than the dog legs, the car has no serious rot.
Condition and maintenance is everything. These cars were made in FAR fewer quantities than say a BMW e46 and the number of fanatic owner / custodians is also far fewer, so the population you're starting with is more like Porsche 911 numbers (think handfuls, not dozens). I think it's easier to find a really well maintained rust free BMW e46 ZHP than a similar condition '04 - '05 9-5 Aero. If you do find one, it will be half to two thirds the price of the BMW but have similar performance.
Unless you find a car that's been kept out of the salt, I'd stick with a car from south of the Mason-Dixon line and 75 miles from any coast. Salt air near coasts can be nearly as destructive as road salt.
