It's also handy to have a 6 or 8" long piece of hose (like fuel line) handy. It fits over the top of the plugs and makes it easy to grip the plugs to get them out of as well as started in the deep plug well.
(your 5/8" plug socket may have a rubber insert that does the same thing -- mine is so old the rubber long disintegrated)
