How about starting by checking the oil level and making sure you aren’t down a couple quarts?
Flickering oil light is an indication of low oil pressure, which can be caused by a number of things, including low oil levels, wonky oil sending switch, failing oil pump, etc. as well as the dreaded sludging issue. Start simple.
