So, I have searched the site for info on this back to 2007. There are very few posts for the V6 3.0, I know we're a minority here ;). The V6 has a sleeve/bushing that sits in front of the seal and behind the crank sprocket. The oil pump is integrated into the oil pump cover and the O-ring on these lies under a fastened cap on the back side of the cover which I didn't remove since there was no oil leaking there. I had weeping from the oil pump cover gasket and front main seal. The relevant posts I found are focused on the front main seal alone and don't mention reassembly so I'm still confused. This is the 1st time I've done this. If any SAAB-onauts could check they're copy of WIS under "95(9600)>2002>Engine>Basic Engine,V6>Front Crankshaft Seal, to change>To Fit:" And read Step 2. Am I reading this wrong or has experience shown this isn't necessary? thanx All!
