Yes you want to put on a new boot if no damage has been done. Yes it should be basically the same as the old 9000. I usually use a flat blades screwdriver to hold the clip open and I just use a brass hammer to remove the outer cv from the shaft. The inner joint is a tripod bearing like the 9000 as well. But you remove the inner joint from the transmission unlike the 9000 were you undid the clamp and removed the tripod bearing from the inner driver. If you end up having todo the inner boot you will find that there is a metal cage that needs cut and removed to get the tripod out of the cup. Good Luck, Bernie
