So, as the instrumentation lights on my '01 Aero sedan (speedo, tach, engine temp, etc.) gradually failed a few at a time over the past few years, I finally reached the point (all illumination out) where I was going to let the indy fix 'em all, having looked at the DIY video and decided that I didn't want to take on what was basically a disassembly of the entire steering column/center area/dashboard of my '01 Aero.
I had the Aero in for a snow tire swap this morning, and the indy called to say his tech "fixed" the illumination issue by (get this...) smacking the top of the dashboard!!! All dash illumination now functioning. The tech said if this works for a while, he'd suggest just going with it and seeing what happens. Obviously, there is something loose or intermittent somewhere between the the dash panel and the power to it. FWIW, all of the other dash lights/icons that illuminate briefly when I first turn on the car - work just fine, and always have.
Weird!
