Traded a 99 9-5, silver with beige leather. I liked that very much, even though most would say charcoal interior is the right choice. The silver always looked clean, even when a close inpection would say it truly was'nt.
I wanted a change in my 02 Arc, and I always thought other midnight blue Saabs looked great. It seems to make the black plastic trim on B pillar and sides, bumper more integrated with the car. BUT, it is harder to keep clean. I figured I get the Saab washed every week anyway, I am trying not to be too neurotic about more dirt and swirls showing.
So, I would say you have a win-win choice. The dings will show on either color. I think the metallic midnight blue is spectacular in sunlight, maybe more like India ink than Crayola crayon purple.
