I don't know any good tricks. However there must be some out there. I was once in a car that someone had "bufffed out" a scratch. The result was that the windshield acted like a lens in that area and distorted things. I felt it was more annoying than the scratch.
There are probably much better methods out there, but be careful. Hopefully someone else can post back something more useful.
