Well, I got the SP1 (service pack 1) downloaded and installed, and woosh! The launching of images was gone.
I am not a computer wis enough to be able to tell what part of SP1 that messes with Saab's WIS program, but I have religiously downloaded every update that Microsoft have had to offer to date and have had no problems until I installed SP1.
After my fresh install of Win XP pro yesterday, the update site had 20 critical and 26 recommended updates to offer. After picking only SP1 and install, the update site offered only 7 critical and 7 recommended.
I down loaded those as well, but none of them restored the image viewing in WIS.
The files in question are .CGM files and WIS ask you to load a software program made by ITEDO and called isoview3.
My guess is that somewhere in that region is where our problem lays.
Saab used a program in the early versions of WIS that was called "Testman" and I think it was used to launch the images too, in the latest version, "Testman" is gone, but instead they ask you to install this ITEDO software.
It might be the same maker after all?
Maybe someone else here on the board is a good sleuth and feel for doing some research.
I gonna try to contact ITEDO to see if they are willing and have any info to share.
Later dudes
