Hi,
In my previous post, I meant to say ... "Do you think 9-3SS Linear is a
MORE demanding application than 2002 9-5 Aero?"
I have the pre-vacation buzz.
Well, to answer your question Aero'ed, in 9-5, engine block is cast
iron but head is aluminum. This poses problems because aluminum and
iron have different expansion rates due to heat.
So, 9-3SS has less friction and wear problems because engine
block and head are both aluminum. I don't know where the steel sleeves
fit into this, but in NINES it specifically mentions that 9-3SS engine
is able to generate more power from less boost because of smaller loss
of energy to friction.
