I assume that the 99 9-5 is the same as the 00 9-5. The plug is not behind the radio, but behind the HVAC coontrols. The easy thing to do would be to remove the radio, than push out the HVAC cluster. If you are going to remove the radio, BUY THE STUPID SAAB TOOL. The dealer charged me twelve bucks for mine. I tried to use coat hangers and other things to release the radio (including a Ford din tool) but nothing worked. I just F*cked up my radio bracket to the point that the SAAB tool no longer worked.
If you can't get the radio out, remove the glovebox, than remove the big aluminum bracket next to the radio that has a foam pad on it. With these two items out you should be able to reach the back of the HVAC controls and push them forward.
When you get it out the connector is sitting right there. There is also a RF connection for an additional ant. I am not sure where the other end of it goes. Perhaps someone around the BB does. The job is really not hard, but I made it ridiculously hard because I was too stubborn/impatient to get the right tool.
You will also need a hands free kit for your phone. I bought the Nokia car kit and adapted it. (Cut the mic and speaker leads off and hard wired into the SAAB conector) There might be a better method. Hope this helps...
