This message was from my friend you can tell hes an Audi Fan. I thought it was funny cause he gets all worked up. See below. We are always having little quarrels about the better car.
Ask him how many world rally championship races saab has won with their
crappy engines ? Then ask him how many races audi has won in the last 20
years with their 5 valve per cylinder engines... lame dog, pretty funny.
Overtuned ? Then why does the 225hp TT make so much power with only a
slightly larger turbo (sport k-03 vs. the regular k-03 in my car) and the
addition of a 2nd intercooler ? Or how there are dozens of APR Stage 3 kits
on the street at about 280 hp with garrett gt series turbos... if the
engine is already overworked in stock form then why aren't we seeing all
these stage 3 guys breaking pistons or throwing rods out of the blocks ?
Because the engine is grossly UNDERTUNED in stock form... its ready for
alot more power. Do the saabs come from the factory with piston oil
squiters and forged rods ? Maybe, maybe not... I don't know and don't care.
The argument about the kkk turbo being overworked in chipped car isn't
completely without merit, but what is this crap he's talking about surging
?... surging has absolutely nothing to with whether or not the turbo is
'overworked', it either spools up or it doesn't. End of story.
And I wasn't saying that a bpv valve upgrade won't EVER help... its just
that too many people are getting ripped off buying these $150 pieces from
hyperboost and Forge. Most of the vw and audi guys are having plenty of
success in eliminating the surging by switching to either a $40 225hp TT
valve or a $60 porsche twin turbo valve. A few people have also had great
success downgrading from the o.e. platinum plugs to a comparable spec
copper plug. (which is my next experiment as soon as the tranny issues are
resolved.)
