I've had two SE's and one Aero. Aero is a sedan and I have an SE wagon and had an SE sedan that I traded in for the Aero.
I prefer the Aero. The brakes are far better and the body roll is much less. The ride is definitely stiffer. As for the engines -- that's kind of a toss-up. My Aero's engine has a rumble and vibration I don't like at about 1200rpms and I noticed the same kind of rumble and vibration in a Viggen with the same engine. Alot of people say they don't have this problem however. Other than that I really like the engine and it is more fuel efficient by 2-3 mpg highway. Regarding the v-6, I like the growl of the engine but it is definitely noisier at highway speeds.
I also like the wagon version better than the sedan. It is better thought out -- the seats lay flat with the trunk and rear headrests are better. It is also better balanced -- more of a 57/43 weight distribution than 60/40. Extra weight makes wagon about a second slower to 60 though. Ride is better in a wagon. What I think would be the best of all worlds is the aero wagon, which may be my next car when the SE wagon lease is up. Safety in the wagon may be the best in the world.
