use high quality Synthetic like Mobil 1.

Both Saab fully synthetic 0W-30 and Saab synthetic blend 5W-30 pass
muster. You can use 0W-30 for 10,000 mile oil change interval or
Saab 5W-30 for 5,000 mile oil change interval. Saab 0W-30 is $4/Liter
and Saab 5W-30 is $3/Liter. They're both good bargains for the base
stock and additive package.

Mobil 1 is preferable to either Saab regular service oil. The
most recommended Mobil 1 viscosities are 0W-40, 10W-30 or 15W-50 (in
that order).

Delvac 1 5W-40 is also an excellent choice.
