The Aero was the right choice - Beemers and Mercs are more common round here than Fords!
Dwin is your Aero the 5spd Auto?
I have an 02 Aero too - at aboout 14 months old, I had the severe vibration at idle in 'D', slong with indecisive gear changes at low speed, my dealer did a s/w upgrade on the transmission and the vibration along with the shift issues were fixed.
As for cabin noise - a lot of it is down to the Michelin Premacy tires - I actually like these, especially in the wet - there is no doubt that these guys are noisy though. That very 'blocky' tread is going to be an issue for sure.
I have done a deal on an 03 Aero that I'll get at the end of the month - most of 03s - especially here in the UK got Pirelli tires with a smaller, less block like tread pattern - I have a hunch that these will be much quieter. I'll let you know.
