Climate matters!

I recently drove my 2000 lpt wagon on a 2,500 mile round trip from Florida to the SOC in Hershey Pa. I've long been critical of the lpt for having a lousy idle (automatic trans.) and lag off the line, but was amazed how much better it ran in Pa.'s cooler climate. The idle was much better and lag reduced significantly. At first I thought it was the 1,250 mile run at 80-90 mph that cleaned her out, but when I returned home the old shudder and lag immediatly returned in 90 degree weather. The car was good on the open road, and returned 27.8 mpg for the entire trip. My Streetpilot GPS calculated a 72,5 mph driving average (stopped time not included). Max speed attained on the trip was 110.1, whilst following a Bimmer, somewhere that will remain nameless! This trip was my last hurrah for the wagon as the lease was up yesterday.
I have a '99 V6 SE so am still a member of the Saab family. I've always preferred the V6 over the lpt and am sorry to see it discontinued for '04. I might have felt differently if I lived in cooler climes.
