Wheel bearing problem Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Sun, 21 Sep 2003 07:16:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In addition to my DI Cassette problem, I think I need new wheel bearings. An independent mechanic and the dealership either didn't know or said they were fine. But, here is what is happening: 1) I am getting what sounds like excessive noise from the tires, increasing a little with time. I haven't rotated my tires lately. Pitch gets higher with speed, with or without car in gear (manual). 2) When I jacked up the wheels, one did not rotate very freely - I spun and it slowed to a stop fast. 3) Both front tires, when manually turned, had a sound similar to when you rapidly flip through a deck of cards (sorry, don't know how to otherwise describe this). Though, the sound is only as fast as you turn the tire. One of the mechanics said it may be the transmission also, but I only have 65K on the car (2000 Aero). I have grounded the car for the weekend and want to take it in to get fixed. Anyone thing that it may be something other than the wheel bearings? Thanks again!
