I switched over from semi-synth to full synth on our '01 9-5 at 11k, and on our '99 9-3 at about 58k. No prob with seals. The '01 had a leaky turbo but that was evident before the switch.
Dunno about adding the tranny fluid to the oil. Maybe. Full synth has the same effect over time and is probably safer.
I"ve heard to stick with the Dexron III fluid too. Newer Saabs use some Exxon synthetic thats hard to find. Others have switched to synth with no problems.
I always use new washers too. Not on the tranny though....I haven't seen those for sale.
