Your dealer won't automatically do this unless you ask - on the basis of a particular problem - mine was hesitant gear changes.
Software upgrades for the Transmission/Engine Management system are performed by the dealer downloading your own vehicles data to Tech2, and the dealer taking the Tech2 device to the Saab Workshop PC which extracts the data and compares it with whatever Saab consider to be the latest software code for your vehicle chassis/engine/transmission.
The new software is downloaded to the Tech 2 and then uploaded to the vehicle processors.
Saab are not required to document the updates - save that they provide us with the best possible customer service. I have always been impressed - even my '03 Aero -had a refresh of the software at the 1st 6000mile service - now noticeably smoother and more responsive.
