My 2000lpt has 117,000 miles on the odometer and I drive 95 miles per day commuting to and from work.

My suggestions include (assuming a 4 cyl engine):
1) Replace the DI or carry a spare in your trunk. Better yet, replace the DI AND use your existing one as the spare. Learn how to replace the DI - it only takes a couple of minutes and is nearly a "clean hands" job.
2) Replace the belt pulleys, at minimum replace the top rear pulley since it is the most likely to fail. Carry a spare belt with you too.
3) Keep your spare tire up to pressure.
4) Carry a spare headlamp bulb and know how to install it. Again, a quick and clean proceedure.
5) Carry a cell phone with numbers for your Auto Club already programmed. Know in advance where Saab Dealers or reputable independent Saab repair shops are located enroute. Have their telephone numbers too.
6) Diligently adhere to Saab's recommended maintenance schedule. Including 5,000 miles oil and filter changes!

Having the above spares with you should make things relatively eventless should a problem occur.
