9-5 Climate Control

Well after a rather cool summer when I found nothing to complain about with regard to the car's climate control system it seems the fall weather in the Northeast has the distinct ability to confuse and confound the climate control system. Today while driving, the Saab display indicated an outside temp of 52 degrees but it was probably about 75 degrees in the car so I hit the Auto mode for the climate control and lo and behold instead of getting nice cool air the system decided to blow heated air from both the dash and below dash vents. I thought the system may need a minute or two to sort things out but after a few minutes nothing changed and the temp of the air being blown stayed the same. I finally reduced the temp settings manually to Low and I finally got cool air. I think the system in my car is functioning normally, it's just that I think the design may have one or two flaws in it. Anybody else's thoughts are appreciated.
