So how's this deal:

The car: '04 Steel Grey Aero with A/T, Touring Package, Sport Tech Package and xenon headlights for MSRP of $43,785.

The deal: 35 month balloon at $465/month and $17,514 final payment with only sales tax and $45 dealers fee up front (no destination fee or bank fee). Deal includes Saab loyalty and GM supplier discount.

Here's how we got there:

Opening deal was $497 month (sales price of approx $32500 if I recall). I asked him to sharpen his pencil based on a quote I had gotten from another dealer of $487/month with sales price of $30,874 and MSRP $42,785, arguing that his price was two thousand higher with only a $1,000 difference in MSRP.

That and some other pitching brought a second proposal of $481/month. Figuring I was pretty much reaching the floor (based mostly on info from this board!), I brought out my GM family first authorization (thanks atul!!). And that brought us to the final numbers posted above.

I pick up my new Saab on Thursday.
