I had the same problem last week with what souded like a small leaf stuck in the blower. I turned the blower to the fastest speed for about 30 seconds, amd the noise is now gone; I assume the fan bladed pureed it. To prevent larger leaves from falling into the ventilation system, I had wired some plastic mesh used to cover rain gutters with about 1/4" openings over the top of the intake vents at the base of the windshield. That had worked perfectly for three years before this incident. I have a '99 9-5 that has rather large slots in the intake. Later models have smaller slots, I believe.
