Any opinions on what I should do to my 2000 (65k, 4cyl)? I need some help.
the TCS OFF and engine lights came on, and after a few more miles, all the warning lights flashed on and car simply shut down and wouldn't respond.
towed to nearest dealer, where it cranks right up, tho in limp mode, but has no error codes, and they can't duplicate the problem. say car runs great- they have tech driving it daily. been over a week now.
car has DI cassette 3k ago, some new vacuum hoses, new battery, recently cleaned throttle body. immediately suspected the throttle body, since we've had a dropping idle "stoplight shudder" about once/day that no one can diagnose (or duplicate) for us. but if it's the throttle body sensor, wouldn't that have given an error code? Based on this board, I asked about the crankshaft position sensor too, but dealer tells me that tests fine. vacuum system tests ok. has anyone heard of ever needing a new limp mode solenoid?
(another odd thing was that the flashers, while waiting for the tow, dimmed and stopped clicking loudly. when my wife slammed her door shut they came back on fully. at least I think that happened. led me to think I had a loose electrical connection somewhere-- new battery is connected properly. maybe that's just what they do, I'd never used the flashers before.)
am thinking of basic tune, and replacing the throttle body and ckp sensor then picking it up for the 400mi trip home. Does that make sense to you folks? I hate to just guess but I'm not sure what else to do.
Not eager for the long trip since there are no saab dealers/shops that I know of yet along the way thru south AL/ south GA, so any input is really appreciated.
