I removed my driver's side seat a few weeks ago to do the same thing. The stitching had come undone all the way across where you sit. Also a smaller section had given way. There is an excellent procedure in the archives for r/r the seat leather. I would suggest getting this procedure as it gave step by step directions.
I also sewed the cover back from the inside using the original holes. I doubled up some nylon thread. Two layers of leather and foam is tough to push a needle through. What I did was use a pair of needle nose pliers to push and pull the needle through. Took me several hours but it worked. Also to get the bottom seat cover off the procedure called for removing the clip behing the large black plastic knob. This is not necessary.
Good luck.
