Possibly. The knock sensor is tuned to look for vibrations in certain frequency range typical of engine pre-ignition. This is a sharp, audible note. It can be confused by other extraneous abnormal vibrations.
An easy test: unbolt the sensor and just let it hang connected to the lead (or plug in a spare, unmounted sensor). If your boost returns, don't remount the sensor until you fix the alternator! Bad sensors are very rare-bad connections at the plug are not.
