all they do is tear cars up, its amazing half the cars on the road even run after being serviced at one of these. I would recommend NOT taking your car back to this place again. There is an oil drain plug that you could losen to drain some oil... more than likely they knocked a vacuum line loose or something, i can't imagine how adding oil could cause backfires though...
Is it misfiring? Does it just cutout for a spilt second, then come back to life... weak sparks can cause that, maybe its time for a tune-up???
