I work for a very large commercial wrecking company on the west coast. I've torn apart hundreds of Saab engines/transmissions over the years and I've seen what Amsoil does to transmissions. I've posted about this product on this BB before and can say first hand that Amsoil is a terribly unsuitable gear oil for the Saab synchronized transmissions. It has been explained to me by a tech at Amsoil familiar with Saabs that Amsoil synthetics use a "softening agent" in their oil to keep them from absorbing water when unmaintained/neglected or stored for prolonged periods of time. These same softening agents cause synchros to slip against the gear face thus defeating the synchro entirely. It seems that Amsoil Gear Lube is actually TOO SLICK for the synchros to properly seat. A local independent saab repair shop told me a story of an elderly couple that brought in their Montana saab to be looked at and had only 30-40K miles on it, but was not going into any gear. This couple had used Amsoil in both their engine and transmission since new. Upon teardown and inspection while their engine looked brand new and showed little or no bearing wear, the tranmission was completely self destroyed. I don't have any personal problems with Amsoil products. Much to the contrary I think they definately make some excellent products. I used to manage the labor shop in a european/import cycle shop and did use Amsoil for several years in my customer's bikes as well as in my own Ducatis, until the Amsoil (AMWAY?) salesmen became too much to handle. If you want to use Amsoil products go ahead, but do your car a favor and keep them out of the transmission.
