Sounds sort of like a frozen gas line. But what do I know. I live in Texas. I did however, honeymoon in Calagary, Canada in February of '88 and we drove the 900T. I forget what year it was, I think an '84.
To make my guess seem more educated, you need fuel, air and spark to get a start. The '86 has electronic injection so when you try to start it with the injectors out, at some point, I think there should be a spray of fuel, not a dribble.
Good luck, Richard M
