Lower Control Arm- Saab says all the same

Hi,
Thanks for the replies from previous post regarding my driver side lower control arm breaking last night. Seems like this happens a lot w/ Saabs.
However, I called dealer today and they said there was never a recall on this part as rumored. Also the new ones are exactly built like the old ones. Strange that this is usual for a Saab. My friend's did the same thing and many people from this BB. Shouldn't Saab somehow strengthen the part in later years? Aren't Saabs supposed to be known for safety?
Anyways I'm having mine done at a local indie here in Portland, OR and they had an old control arm. Price is $200 to replace w/their used lower control arm, bushings not needed/not included(labor included). Also, they found ball joint is pretty bad shape. $80 to replace this, saving me labor while they replace control arm. Hope they don't find anything else wrong.
(crossing my fingers) thanks everyone. Steve
