Swapping Sides with the CV Joints

I started out replacing pads and rotors but... found a torn cv boot, lower ball joints both left and right boots torn and loose, anyway... once I got the cv joints off and cleaned up, they didn't look bad some scoring where the ball travelled. They were not making any noise while driving that I noticed. In the Townsend sight, they mentioned swapping sides on cv joints to get more life out of them. Since I have them both off, is this a good thing to do or should I put them back on the side they came off of? Anything else I should check while torn down this far? Thanks!
