search on amsoil, and you'll find someone that had bad shifting in cold weather with one of amsoil's 20W50 oils.
hard shifting in very cold can also be related to stiff/sticky bushings on shift rod, as rod leaves cabin area .... esp getting reverse.
for friend, go with MTL, proven cold weather winner, assuming bushing's ain't the problem. if amsoil's prefered, use 10W30 .
switching synths, I suggest a purge run of regular dino 20W compressor oil (non-detergent), from hardware store. search for more info by me on this.
