For the steering, you may have worn ball joints, tie rod ends, or control arm bushings. Play in any of them will give sloppy steering.
The thing that fell off is probably the A/C compressor idler pulley. Its loss probably won't have any adverse effect other than your inability to run the compressor periodically to keep the compressor seals from drying out. No adverse effect, that is, unless the belt gets caught up in any of the other belts and shreds them. I don't remember offhand whether the A/C belt is the last one to go on. If it is, then you should be able to extract it without much problem.
