Power steering rack debate

I currently drive an 87 900T With a bad power steering rack. My dead 88 900T has a rack that had a major leaking problem at one time. This is what happened on the 88. It leaked about a pint or two a week and then one evening I parked on a slight incline and when I got back, there was a river of power steering fluid on the ground. I removed the belt for 4 or 5 months and then one day I decided to put the belt back on and fill it back up with fluid. The leak was never repaired but nonetheless, it never leaked a drop after that up to it's last day. Should I trust this rack enough to put it into my 87? Or is the work not worth the risk. T.I.A. -Chris
