Feel for ya, guy.
Had the same prob. on my '91 SPG. Replaced the windshield this summer, buffed it out, repaired the panels & added nice alloy wheels, then couldn't stand the scratches anymore.
I researched the scratch "kits" available, not worth it, scratches are too deep. Then I consulted a local glass blower who said it's hours of labor to buff the ones I had out with wavy glass a result, also not worth it. Then I called a few yards to locate unscratched glass (not easy) but found the New Hampshire Saaber (name?) who supposedly had good used glass @ $125 a pop.
Finally, out of curiosity, I called my mechanic for a dealer quote (he used to work there). $85 per, delivered! Of course I grabbed them & even was able to install them in his warm garage. Can't say if you'll get that price but it may be worth checking.
Just a hint; it's really not worth installing new glass if the reason it scratched originally isn't fixed. Believe it or not, my '91 had the NEW, trimmed clips and it still scratched. (Road quartz collects between the rubber and the clip bodies). Once the old glass is out, I muscled out the doorskin lip that the moulding rides in to increase the clip-to-glass clearance. Of course once you do that, you've got to check that the rubber still mates up to the glass, else you'll have more grit room than before you started (which I did). So, once I had the glass in place, I used a pair of sheet-metal vise grips (long, flat clamp) and gently re-angled the whole moulding by trial & error. Phew!
I'm still not happy about that moulding design. I've checked it against other cars and it's sure not the most grit-free seal to the glass I've seen. I RainX'd the glass just to make it a bit more slippery.
Anyway, I think I've licked it - but....time will tell.
Now that you know what you're in for, maybe living with it might not be that bad?
