Never thought of that, Greg, but it makes sense. Clamping on the brakes on a stationary hot rotor would indeed cause uneven cooling between the exposed and covered (under the brake pads) parts of the rotor.
You know, I almost never use my parking brake. I'm a flatlander, so it isn't necessary for me. Unless I'm parking on a steep incline where there's some concern about the car rolling away with reverse gear engaged, I won't use it. With the tires turned toward the curb (downhill) and the tranny in Reverse, the parking brake is redundant in most cases. It'd be different if I lived in San Francisco or Seattle, or on the side of a mountain in West ByGawd Virginia... but I'm willing to bet most Saab drivers don't need to use their parking brakes routinely. With the noted problems of sticking pads and warping rotors, it's probably best not to use it if you don't have to.
