Try pressing the BAND button, and see if CODE comes up. Of course, if you don't have the radio code, you still have a ways to go. Go to a Saab dealer with the car's VIN and proof you own it, and they can get the code.
Among the trash in the glovebox, is there perchance two U shaped black rods, joined by a chain? If so, that's the radio removal tool. Look at the radio - see that on either side of the faceplate there are two holes. You push the ends of the tools into the holes, and this releases the catches holding the radio in. You then pull the radio out.
What, they stiff you on the removal tools? No worry, mate. Make your own. Take an old wire coathanger, and cut two 6 inch or so pieces. Bend them into a U shape, so the ends will fit into the holes. I like to clean the cut ends of the wire up with a file so they aren't sharp. I've also remove the radio with small nails - basically, anything that will go into the hole about 3/8 of an inch will move the catches aside.
